Turkey and Banana Sloppy Joes

I was meal planning this morning and I had it all done except for tonight....nothing sounded right so I decided to make a variation on my Banana Sauce and make it into a Sloppy Joe sandwich!

1lb ground turkey(chicken would be good too!)
1/2 cup sweet onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup sweet bell pepper, chopped
3 medium bananas, mashed
1/2 cup chicken broth
4 oz cream cheese
1/4-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
salt and black pepper to taste

Hamburger Buns

Heat 1 TB olive oil in a deep skillet, add turkey, onion, garlic and sweet pepper, cook until the veggies are tender and the turkey in no longer pink.

While the meat is cooking in a sauce pan mix mashed bananas and chicken broth, bring to a simmer and add cream cheese, mix well until the cream cheese is fully melted.

When the meat is finished cooking, add the banana sauce and seasonings, bring to a gently boil and simmer 10 minutes until thickened.

Serve on warm toasted buns
